Born in Pakistan and raised in the U.S. the author is a veteran of the United States Military where he served as a combat medic. After being deployed to Iraq in 2004-2005 took up Martial Arts as a way of adjusting back to the civilian world. In Winter of 07 started teaching MMA classes in a small town during his yearly visits to meet family. After that visit he knew that all he wanted to do in life was to teach Martial Arts and mentor young adults in the developing world to break past the barriers they lived in.
In spring of 2008 he graduated from George Mason University Magna Cum Laude in Global Affairs. Not one to enjoy spending 20 hours a week in traffic, the author left for Asia to continue bettering his Martial Arts skills (spending a year in Thailand) as well as continue promoting MMA in South Asia. In early 2009 the author traveled to Tigers Gym India (www.tigersgym.com) and trained in MMA and realized the full potential that MMA had as a business venture in South Asia.
Along with these endeavors the author has also been interviewed by the Washington Times and most recently by NPR regarding the experiences of American soldiers of the Muslim Faith.
