Things are looking good. Did a seminar at a really popular fitness club in Lahore. It was covered by Pakistani Television and they are going to use the information to make a 30 minute program on TV. Let me know what you all think of the video. I got a new virtual assistant after firing the old one. Terrible communication and the first job he did was borderline retarded. This new one I have now looks really promising and I am getting him for 2 bucks an hour. Done some great stuff for me already for my Muay Thai site and now he is gonna write a business plan for me. I suck at that sort of stuff. Sales are picking up slightly. I am aiming for 1,000 sales a month within 2 years. I think that’s realistic but I know I have a good, good chance of making that mark before the two year mark. Insha Allah

Recruitment Drive

Right now I am doing a recruitment drive for Fite Selektor. We are looking for fighters for the show. I headed to a nearby Akhara to look for fighters and here is the first in what will be a series of videos.

Looking for VA (Virtual Assistant)

I’ve got a meeting with Fite Selektor on the 9th of January. They are coming to discuss what there can be done regarding Mixed Martial Arts in Pakistan. I’m pretty excited about that and am preparing some formalized plans and a list of questions.

I’m also in the process of finding a virtual assistant to help me with everything I am doing. I am looking at two right now. I have hired one and given him his first assignment which he did not do well. But it’s ok I am going to have to give the new VA’s some time to establish a flow of communication. However to be honest from what I have experienced so far I am not impressed. The other VA I am in the process of interviewing and we will probably talk on the phone soon. This one is working with a team and has some reviews to go with his profile. I look forward to having this one work on some of my stuff soon. Both are based in India and both are working for 5 bucks an hour. I also need to get in touch with my manufacturer here in Sialkot, Pakistan about having another lot of Martial Arts supplies produced. Speaking of which, the website of my first gear and apparel line is up. I will post the address once I add some content.

So right now its about getting an assistant, getting Somchai gear rolling out, promote Fite Selektor and train, train, train. As always.

Choking Air

I feel like a cockroach. Impervious and indestructible to the damaging environment around me. I pick up the pace of my jog through pollution and fog so thick it looks like I am running through a gray cloud. Spotted throughout the vast death clouds are small glowing orange fires, like light houses lighting the way. Many of these small fires are piles of burning garbage with thick black smoke, almost liquid like wisping up and joining forces with the already choking cloud. There is a police officer on every block, even through the residential area which I am running through. Security has been heightened lately but the level of security I see here makes me think that someone important lives nearby. These are by far the most peculiar conditions I have ever had to face when training. I thought Bangkok was bad, Lahore makes Bangkok look like a alpine ski resort. I do a 45 minute run and get back to the apartment I moved into 3 days ago. At this point my lungs constrict to try and desperately save themselves from the smog and dust and the thin skin around my eyes has started burning where the toxic fumes have entered my pores. This is what I have to put myself through to make sure I am ready for Fite Selektor.

I come back to my computer and see that my website for Somchai Muay Thai and MMA gear has been through the first draft. It looks amazing. The designer is from Thailand and knew how to add the perfect touch to make my website perfectly how I wanted it to be. I am going to send him a message in the workroom with a few minor tweaks for the final copy. Once my website is running then I can link it to my eBay store. Everything that sells will be shipped from the United States via a family member. As things pick up I will need to look into outsourcing the job.

Fite Selektor

I wake up in pitch darkness. I am in the basement and there are no windows. I am at my aunts house in Lahore, Pakistan for the next few days as I look for an apartment. I get up and look at my phone and check the time. It’s 5 am. I grab my backpack that holds my busted up laptop and modem and I head upstairs and plug it all in.

I check my email and see a message that says I have received a new bid for an elance project I am doing regarding making a custom word press site. It is for my line of Muay Thai and MMA gear called Somchai and the bidder is from Thailand. Too perfect. The bid is for 200 dollars, but I manage to negotiate it down to 175 with the guarantee that I will use the provider again if I like their work.

Now that I have that out of the way it’s time for the real work. Training for Fite Selektor. I go downstairs turn on the light and kick my cousin, who is sleeping on the floor. He’s a skinny kid from L.A trying to break into the Pakistani Hip Hop industry but for the next 2 hours he is my time keeper.

We have had the same routine for the past three days ever since we found out that the Dubai based MMA promotion Fite Selektor was coming to Pakistan. I Wake up, head out the door to the local park grabbing some breakfast on the way from the local bakery. Its 6 am and the smog is thick. The Punjab has morning fog in the winter time and the terrible pollution turns into a thick poisonous mess. Not the most ideal conditions to train in. We cross the road avoiding the Looney Tunes traffic that defines South Asia, multi-colored buses with obnoxious horns, bicyclists, motor cycles and donkeys mixed in with the flood of cars so beat up they look like that they were made out of paper mache.

I could not believe that Fite Selektor was coming to Pakistan. In fact the minute we heard about it, I paid no heed that it was 9 pm and grabbed my running shoes and went for a run. This was too perfect. The timing was impeccable. I was hoping that with the elance contest I could have money to invest in my businesses so I could concentrate on training. But no luck with that one. I will most definitely need to find some projects to work on the side to pad my expenses, After getting an apartment I will down to about 1,000 dollars. Yikes. It’s ok though. I have faith in myself and my creator and that alone shall show me the path best for me.

So regardless that I didn’t win I will keep going forward with this blog to show you how elance and other technologies that exist on the internet can help you live the life you choose. It’s the New Way to Work.

The Elance Odyssey

Here we go. I’m waiting in the departure lounge of Dulles International Airport. I fly out to London where I meet an English fighter of Pakistani origin whom I have networked with thanks to the web page made by an elance provider. We’re gonna sit down and discuss what’s in store for Mixed Martial Arts Pakistan.

After spending the night in London I fly out to Lahore, Pakistan. After a few days of visiting my grandparents in my small hometown near Faisalabad, I return to Lahore where the rubber meets the road as I get started at setting up a MMA training center in Lahore.

In the meantime I have posted a new job on elance looking for someone to make me another website for my new line of Muay Thai and MMA gear called “Somchai”. The offers have started coming in and when I arrive in Pakistan I will start interviewing prospective providers and see which one I believe can provide me the best bang for my buck.

Anyway, I see the line starting to form to board. Time to take the first step on my elance odyssey!

Thanks for taking the time to check out this blog. If your interested in living a life dictated by YOU then you have come to the right place. If you feel stuck, if you feel like your not doing what your heart says you should be doing then the next few pages of reading may very well change your life. They’ve most definitely changed mine.

The New Way to Work.

The New World Order.

We are living in a time of great oppurtunity. Technology and transportation has changed our world forever. Being able to harness the power of communication is bringing minds together and creating unparalleled success. I am about to show you how it is going to be the driving force behind mine.

I think its very important for everyone to understand that I am not a tech savvy person. I don’t have any business related degrees. I have no business experience. I am not even a very organized and meticulous personality.

But I believe, sincerely believe, that despite not having huge financial reserves I am going to go out there and do what I want to do. I am burning the ships, retreat is not an option. Not for a moment can I think I am stuck. Here are two projects I am in the process of building.

1. An infrastructure for the sport of MMA in Pakistan and South Asia.
2. A martial arts equipment and apparel company

I will do this while totally mobile, at my own pace and within a very reasonable means while maintaining a good standard of living and garnering some wonderful life experiences.

I have other plans as well but these two are my main focus for the next couple of months. Stay tuned for the other cool endeavors I get into. In the meantime follow me. See if I succeed. Watch the process as it unfolds. Let it be evidence for what YOU can also be doing.

It won’t matter if I am in the cushy surroundings of Northern Virginia, sleeping on a gritty gym floor in Karachi, Pakistan or staring out at the crystal blue expanse of the Andaman Sea in Southern Thailand, work will get done. I will be happy and what more can you ask for.
